Rose E. Martinez, age 84 went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2023. She was a resident of Rivertown Senior Apartments. Rose was born on June 18, 1939, in Albany, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (Jones) Spadaro. Rose graduated from Ravena Coeymans High School in 1956 and in 1958 married Charles Martinez of Coxsackie. She was an avid speller, photographer and gardener since childhood. She helped beautify and maintain the flower gardens at Rivertown Garden Apartments with joy, giving much enjoyment for all to enjoy in its beauty. Survivors include her son Charles “Chuck” Martinez (Spring), loving adopted son in her heart Elcio Kusma of Brazil and daughter Maria Celeste as well as her sister Mary Whitney (Dan), brothers Joseph Spadaro (Sally), Thomas Spadaro (Judy), daughter-in-law Penny Martinez, granddaughter Briana Inglis (Kevin), Olivia Newkirk (Steven) as well as Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren by adoption on her heart; Michael Hennigan (Ryan & Paige), Sam Churchill, Clara Brummel (Seth), Kelsey VanVechten and Kendall Coleman (Gavin). Dear nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews are also dear to her heart. Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her dear son Jeffrey, her brother Michael Spadaro, sister-in-law Sharon Spadaro, dear friend Nancy Camley and daughter-in-law Patricia Sapunarich. Calling hours will be from 10 am-12 noon on Friday September 1 at St. Mary’s Church in Coxsackie. A funeral mass will be at 12:00 noon following the visitation celebrating Rose and Jeffrey. Interment will follow in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont, NY. In lieu of flowers, Rose wished donations would be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 381025. Knowing how hard cancer is on adults, she couldn’t imagine how much harder it is on precious children. Thank you sincerely for honoring this request. Arrangements have been entrusted to the W.C.
